- 1 gallon unfiltered apple juice or apple cider
- 1 large orange, cut into slices
- Small ginger root, peeled, cut into ~1" cubes
- 3-4 cinnamon sticks
- 4 star anise
- 1 tablespoon whole cloves
- 1 tablespoon whole allspice
- (Optional) 21 oz (621 ml) bourbon or rum. Assuming 16 oz of juice is removed per directions below, this will yield about "1 shot" (1.5 oz) of alcohol per 8 oz of drink.
- 6 qt. slow cooker
- Cheese cloth or other spice infusion container
- (Optional) Thermometer
- Pour juice into the slow cooker, and set to LOW for 4-6 hours
- (Optional) If spiked, leave out 16 oz of the juice to make room for the alcohol later
- Prepare oranges, ginger root, and cinnamon sticks, and put them in the juice
- Wrap the star anise, cloves, and allspice into a cheesecloth burrito (or other infusion container), and place in the juice
- (Optional) ~1 hour before serving, add the alcohol to warm it up without evaporating the alcohol. (Time is an estimate! Don't let the temperature rise above 173℉, the boiling point of ethanol.)
