[DoneSafe] (https://donesafe.com) is a startup in Health and Safety and we’re looking for a developer friend 👍 👍 to work with us. We're based in Sydney and Melbourne. This role will be based in Melbourne.
Who are we? DoneSafe aims to make people happy with the H&S experience, which takes dedication and thought but we’re excited to help. The core of our business is six people but we're expecting to pick up speed pretty quickly. We call ourselves the people’s safety software because we think it’s important to look after people through H&S. We have revenue and clients so we’re not just running on investor capital. We’ve made a bunch of sales mostly to businesses who have between ten and a thousand employees. Now we’re starting to take a hard look at some bigger customers and they need things we don’t have currently. We've sold one big ASX-listed customer and now it's time to do more. Which is where you come in 😄
What’s the role? Essentially we need someone to help build upon the existing application codebase to get us to the next level. It’s Ruby on Rails, some JavaScript (JQuery) and some CSS, deployed on AWS using RDS flavoured Postgres. We have a little iOS mobile app and a small API that it runs on too. In all honesty getting to where we are now required us to go fast and break a bunch of things but now we're in repair mode and we need to get the codebase to the next level.
How do we work? There’s a list of features scattered across some trello boards and an excited user base who would like to use those features to make their lives better. You need to be able to convert feature requests to code. Simple eh? 😄
Right now we're not asking for anything other than programming skill and a good attitude. What do we mean when we say good attitude? We're looking for intellectual curiosity, a problem solving mindset and an honest outlook. It's a startup so there's an emotional rollercoaster going on. Which means a certain level of resilience is required. Optionally if you're capable of bringing an aesthetic aplomb we really appreciate that as our users aren't developers, so interface simplicity is a vital factor in our work.
In return you’ll get experience growing a SaaS software product, which will stand you in good stead for any number of roles. You’ll also get to work with experienced devs who practice continuous improvement, test driven development and believe in good technical solutions to solving people’s problems. You will also have plenty of opportunities to help drive the direction of how we do tech at Donesafe.
