Installing the Pebble app on iOS with Altstore

You're an iOS user and just got yourself an Pebble? Congrats! But if you've never downloaded the app, chances are it's no longer available on the App Store. No worries! If you have a Apple ID, you can install the app yourself! Just be aware that you have to do this every week in order for the app to keep running!

What we are going to do:

  1. Install Altstore on computer.
  2. Install the Altstore on the iOS device.
  3. Use Altstore to sideload the Pebble IPA file onto the iOS device.

Requirements:

Before starting:

  • Make sure you have the latest iTunes and iCloud installed and set up.

For Windows users: DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE MICROSOFT STORE VERSION. Get it from Apple's website.

  • Make sure the iOS device is connected to the internet.
  • Make sure the iOS device is not connected to the computer until mentioned.
  1. Download and install Altstore from https://altstore.io/ (it comes in a ZIP file, so you will have to extract then run the setup.exe file)
  2. (Optional?) You may need to restart your computer, please do so before first run.
  3. Connect your iOS device. (There may be a popup on the iOS device asking if you want to trust the computer, press Allow)
  4. Click on the Altstore icon in the taskbar/notification area (it's a diamond). Click on "Install Altstore" and it should show a list of connected iOS devices. Click on your device.
  5. It will pop up a window that asks for your Apple ID, enter your email and password and click on "Install".
  6. There will be a popup warning, press "OK" to continue. Give it a moment, wait for a notification that confirms the installation is completed.
  7. Now go to the iOS device and open up the Altstore app. If a "Untrusted Developer" pops up, simply go to the Settings app > General > Device Management > (your Apple ID email) and click on "Trust (your apple ID email)" The Altstore app should now have a "Verified" on that same page.
  8. In the Altstore app, choose either to allow notifications or not (it doesn't affect what we do), and go to the Settings tab. Sign in with your Apple ID so we can sideload apps from the device itself.
  9. Download the Pebble IPA (link?) on your iOS device (Use Safari for this).
  10. Safari should show a "Open with Altstore" option once the file is downloaded. Click on it. It will open up Altstore and install it. Give it a moment.
  11. Profit(?)!
