- Notice the IP change! ts1.learnstarbattle.com will be redirected to the new server so your teamspeak3 client may complain about security and a "new host" when you first connect, this is normal.
- Update your bookmarks for the tempory DNS, or simply keep using ts1.learnstarbattle.com and wait for the migration to to redirect you automatically.
- All existing data, TS3 user accounts, and settings will be migrated. To test and confirm this, simply connect to the new server using the temporary DNS.
We're moving the Star Battle TeamSpeak 3 Server to a new, more powerful server at another datacenter:
- RAID 10 SSD
- Gigabit (1Gb/s) uplink with direct BGP access.
- Upgraded unbuffered memory storage and caching
- Improved backbone with shorter distance connections via Level3
The upgrade has been due for a bit now and since recent complaints of random lag spikes resulting in packet loss and bad quality for sporadic periods.
In terms of reliability and stability, the current server and configuration has been great, we're currently at 335 days of uptime! However, it's not enough to be online. Voice quality is crucial in providing a great experience. Lag spikes during a critical moment during gameplay could be the difference between a win or a loss.
To that end, the hardware limitations in our current environment are just not cutting it. We need persistent quality, making communication a non-issue.
