Kaka-asana and Baka-asana

Description

Kaka is the crow, baka is the crane, kakakasi is the "eye of the crane", that according to the popular indian tradition its only one, but it can place itself as it wants so it can see in any direction. Baka, the crane, is a lunar waterfowl and hindu consider it as astute and false. Similar both in execution and in the naming, these two asana are easily interchangeable.

  • The mantra that recalls kaka's strength is: Om Sri Kakaya namah

  • The mantra that recalls baka's strength is: Om Sri Bakaya namah

  • kaka-asana's element is the air while baka-asana's is the water

  • kaka-asana is male while baka-asana is neutral

  • The stimulated cakra are in both cases surya-candra and ajna

  • The activated cakra is anahata

  • The vital breath is prana

  • The bija-mantra is yam, vehicle of the air element

  • the breath is thoracic

  • The correspondent organs are: heart, lungs and the pituitary gland
