Things to Watch

  • What are the goals/outcomes for the lesson? How and when are they presented to students?

  • What materials are used to present content to students? (ie - slides, repo, markdown file, props, video, etc.)

  • What are students doing while instructor is teaching?

  • Are students engaged in the lesson? What is the instructor doing to contribute to that level of engagement?

  • Are students given opportunities to practice and apply new knowledge during the lesson?

  • How does the instructor check student understanding throughout the lesson?

  • Does the lesson employ peer interaction? If so, how?

  • How is the content of the lesson organized?

  • Is the pacing of the lesson too slow, too fast, or just right?

  • Are multiple learning styles addressed? (ie - audio, visual, kinesthetic, etc.)

  • Are students given opportunities to ask questions during the lesson? If so, what types of questions are asked?

  • Are resources provided for further learning? If so, what are they?
