We can use this app and the data presented to gather attendance data even after a Teams meeting has ended. This will also present general student Teams activity.
1. Add a new tab
In Teams, click on the "+" icon in the General tabs menu.
2. Find Insights
Search for "Insights" and select it in the list.
3. Restrict notification
Disable the "Posting to the channel about this" as students do not have access to Class Insights.
4. Tracking activity
From the Inights base page, find the "Track student Activity" link and follow the link to display the overall Teams activity.
5. View overall activity
Inside of the "Digital activity" section we can view overall activity data for each student for each day.
- This will be difficult to gather the information we want, so we will click on one of the individual day columns that we want to gather information about, this will take us to the next view that will list data only for that day.
6. View activity per day
Now, we can view the activity per student by time of day.
- This report will list what the activity was (i.e. a scheduled class, or just interacting on Teams).
- We can see students that were egaged for the entire class meeting vs those who showed up and left early or those who joined just before the end.
