<p><span style="background-color: #ffff00;"><span style="background-color: #ffff00;"><strong><a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/1L04okO07IQhSsQ-Grvo31oP-VpiRiyIOPLf21PVlF78/edit?usp=sharing" target="_top">Syllabus with Course Overview</a> </strong></span></span></p>
<p><strong style="font-size: 13px;">How to Begin the Course on Day 0 (5 steps)</strong></p>
<p>Please read carefully through these instructions to begin the course. All course content is hosted entirely via Ryver, which is a team communication platform similar to Slack and Discord. There are desktop and mobile applications which I recommend downloading, but it will also work in your web browser. <strong>It's imperative that you get set up in Ryver before the semester begins so as to not fall behind. </strong>If you have questions and are unable to proceed, email me ASAP at <span style="background-color: #ffff00;"><a href="mailto:jmorrow@hostos.cuny.edu" target="_top"><span style="background-color: #ffff00;">jmorrow@hostos.cuny.edu</span></a></span>.</p>
<p><span style="font-size: 13px;">1. Carefully read through the syllabus linked above and complete the <a href="https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSevFVRccVbjiPxgwps4uEn-CWbZqs41zdpCoBOEJoat9r0XOw/viewform" target="_top">course intro/agreement form</a>.</span></p>
<p>2. Sign up for an account for the Hostos MDP server on Ryver. <strong>If you’ve never used Ryver</strong>, use the <span style="color: #000000; font-family: 'Open Sans', sans-serif; font-size: 13px; font-style: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: #ffff00; text-decoration-style: initial; text-decoration-color: initial; display: inline !important; float: none;">Fall 2020 </span><a href="https://hostosmdp.ryver.com/application/signup/members/DJWW1KhqkGBwqSK" target="_parent" style="font-family: 'Open Sans', sans-serif; text-shadow: none !important; letter-spacing: normal; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; outline: none; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-size: 13px; color: #1874a4; text-decoration: underline; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;">hyperlink</a> provided in the syllabus to sign up (don't try going to ryver.com). <strong>If you’re already on Ryver</strong>, send a message to @Juno on Ryver requesting to be added to the course and skip to step 3. You can only sign up using your Hostos email address, so make sure you have access if you don't already. Make sure to use your preferred first name as indicated in the course intro/agreement form and your last name as your display name on Ryver. Failure to do so will result in it being changed for you. This is necessary so you can receive grades for your assignments and communicate with one another. See the image below if you're confused.</p>
<p><span style="font-size: 13px;">3. Log in at </span><a href="http://hostosmdp.ryver.com" target="_top" style="font-size: 13px;">hostosmdp.ryver.com</a><span style="font-size: 13px;"> and locate our class listed under <strong>TEAMS</strong>. Please see the image below for a detailed UI overview.</span></p>
<p>4. You will see two tabs at the top, <strong>CHAT</strong> and <strong>TOPICS</strong>. Weekly assignments, lessons and course material are found under <strong>TOPICS</strong>. <strong>CHAT</strong> is used to communicate with the class. On the right, you should also see a roster of your peers and me who you can send private messages to. All weekly instructions are located in the topic sections typically with one topic per week. Once you are connected to the class on Ryver, you will not need to use Blackboard for this course, although we will use Blackboard Collaborate Ultra, with instructions on Ryver. </p>
<p><span style="font-size: 13px;">5. Complete the activities listed under the topic for week 1. <strong>Welcome to GD105! <img src="https://bbhosted.cuny.edu/webapps/vtbe-tinymce/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/img/smiley-cool.png" alt="Cool" title="Cool" border="0" /></strong><br /></span></p>
