How to Improve the Terminal Appearance in Mac OS X

Steps to setup

  1. Open Terminal and type nano .bash_profile
  2. Paste the following :
export PS1="\[\033[36m\]\u\[\033[m\]@\[\033[32m\]\h:\[\033[33;1m\]\w\[\033[m\]\$ "
export CLICOLOR=1
export LSCOLORS=ExFxBxDxCxegedabagacad
alias ls='ls -GFh'
  1. Save and exit
  2. Open new terminal and see the difference
  3. Fo font size and colors, go to terminal preferences and customize ANSI colors
