KDE Connect, or if you have Internet on both devices: http://file.pizza or http://github.com/schollz/croc , or via Bluetooth or via SHAREthem/SHAREit/SHAREme (WiFi Direct file-sharing apps); f*ex&sexxx by Fram are also interesting, as is sftp (ssh filesharing protocol), ftp & ftps/ftpes...
PidginIM supports LAN p2p filesharing via RJ45 Ethernet cable via the Bonjour IM protocol, and there is also LAN p2p filesharing via LANcommunicator/LANmessenger app... Hamachi (there is a Linux frontend), Wippien, etc. provide LAN-gaming-over-the-Internet functionality.
Filesharing can also be done via Jitsi, BeeBEEP, FreeFileSync, Rocket.Chat, _TeamViewer_, RetroShare + Tor web-browser ( http://whonix.org ), Skype, Viber, Google Hangouts, Element.io/SchildiChat/other matrix.org clients, etc.
There is also p2p-filesharing DC++/ADC hubs&client apps, torrents&.magnet&.meta4&.metalink (metalinker.org & mirrorbrain.org), and the good-old (web-hosted .html + RSS-webfeed providing) IRC(v3?)+DCC/SDCC/XDCC links; 1Clipboard Internet-shared-synched clipboard, etc.
If you are using macOS & iPhone, macOS has the AirDrop wifi-direct filesharing app... 🙄

Matthew Kaye
FB messenger, make a convo w/ yourself.
Ivan Kurdov
Matthew Kaye , this is a good idea BUT I suppose that FB Messenger has a max file-size limit for sending a file... while SFTP, file.pizza (depends on which web-browser you are using it under), f*ex&sexxx, and ftp/ftps/ftpes, and maybe macOS AirDrop (WiFi Direct) do NOT have such a limit... Sending too big files over Bluetooth is problematic... Sending files over USB-cable, RJ45 Ethernet LAN (+LANmessenger / PidginIM Bonjour for LAN p2p file-sending) cable, over HDMI+Ethernet, and over the Internet are better options in most cases... --ve4ernik
John Veryan
Use Google Drive. Mount Google Drive to a folder on your Linux machine and sync your files with Google Drive on the phone. It's crude, but it works. I have mounted Google Drive to a USB stick.
Ivan Kurdov
John Veryan , wow, mounting Google Drive to a USB-flashstick is a feature which I never imagined would exist!
But then again, they even invented USB-over-Ethernet/Internet & prolificusa.com invented USB3 CrossOver file-sharing cables, so I guess that ALMOST anything is possible... ---ve4ernik
Andrew Brown
Fe file explorer, connects via wifi and uses sftp or samba

~to add to Bulogos :
SunflowerFM + FSearcher (github.com), SpaceFM, xfe, MATE's file-manager NemoFM, KDE Dolphin, PCManFM, XFCE Thunar, GNOME2 Nautilus FM, GNOME3 Files, mc (MidnightCommander), nnn+fzf + exa (http://the.exa.website) + GNU Nano (all CLI), KDE Konqueror (KDE3 or the newer), KDE Crusader, etc. are good file-managers for (GNU/)Linux. They go well with Bluetooth filesharing apps for Linux and with file.pizza, IRC(v3)-(X)DCC (HexChat app), with SHAREme/SHAREit WiFi-filesharing app, f*ex&sexx, PidginIM, SchildiChat/Element.io (matrix.org), Jitsi/JitsiMeet, https://github.com/schollz/croc , RetroShare (see http://whonix.org Linux), etc.
If you are okay with PROPRIETARY freeware filesharing app but only for MS Windows, take a look at this: https://www.easeus.com/pc-transfer/file-transfer-from-pc-to-pc-usb.html .

Some iPhones may support copying/pasting to/from a USB-connected memory-card reader which has a working SD/SDHC/SDXC memory-card inserted into it...
