FT8 DIGITAL MODE – For QSO Party | |

WSJT-X General Setup: | |
1. >FILE >Settings >General >CHECK the Box for (Disable Tx after sending 73) | |
2. >FILE >Settings >General >UN-CHECK the Box for (CW ID after 73) | |
3. >FILE >Settings >Tx Macros >Add >your Class & Mascot & school name/acronym & Call Letters (Example: CHP "Burrowing Owl" FAU K4FAU) | |
(Also arrange for this new entry to be the Top choice in Tx Macros | |
FT8 QSO Party User Operation: | |
1. Auto Seq = OFF (be sure Seq is off) | |
2. NA VHF Contest = OFF | |
3. Enable Tx = ON | |
4. Double-Click on Tx1 Box label to gray out the use of Tx1 Message | |
5. In the Tx5 Message Field: Click on the check-mark at right end of the Message Field and select your [Class & Mascot & school name/acronym & Call Letters, Example: CHP "Burrowing Owl" FAU K4KEK] | |
6. In the Tx6 Message Field, enter the letters FD, <space> before your Call letters | |
7. If you are answering a CQ: | |
a) Click-On, Tx2 label {sending both Call letters & signal Rpt} | |
b) Wait for a response from the CQer, which will be a Tx2 or Tx3 Message. QUICKLY Click-On Tx5 label which will transmit your [Class & Arrl Section & Call Letters] | |
c) Wait for a response from the CQer, which will be his/hers Tx5 Message | |
d) Double-Click on, Tx5 label, transmitting { both Call letters & 73} | |
e) DO Logging (detailed later) | |
8. If you initiating a CQ: | |
f) Click-On, Tx6 label {sending CQ FD (your Call Letters)} Example: CQ Collegiate QSO Party K4FAU (make sure space between CQ and FD) | |
g) Wait for a response, which will be a Tx2 Message {receiving both Call letters & signal Rpt} | |
h) QUICKLY Click-On Tx3 label, transmitting {both Call letters, R + signal Rpt} | |
i) Wait for a response, which will be his/hers Tx5 Message | |
j) QUICKLY Click-On Tx5 label which will transmit your [Class & Mascot & school name/acronym & Call Letters] | |
k) Wait for a response, { both Call letters & 73} | |
l) DO Logging (in another program or on paper) | |
FT8 FD Logging: | |
1. Click-On the Log QSO label Box | |
2. Enter in the Rpt Rcvd field: The other Party’s Class & Mascot & school name/acronym, Example: CHP <space> Burrowing-Owl <space> FAU <space> K4KEK] | |
3. If you want you can enter your [Class & Mascot & school name/acronym] in the Rpt Send field <OR> enter same info. in the Comments field and CHECK the Retain label box |
