Note, you to run this successfully, you need couple of entries in your /etc/redis/sentinel.conf file.

daemonize yes
pidfile /var/run/redis/redis-sentinel.pid

And also you might want to add the logfile entry as well

logfile /var/log/redis/redis-sentinel.log

Also ensure that /etc/redis/sentinel.conf ownership is redis:redis

$ sudo chown redis:redis /etc/redis/sentinel.conf
