Senior Frontend Developer at Pydantic

Opportunity to join Pydantic! We are looking to hire someone to lead our frontend development.

We want to hire a senior engineer who is as experienced with TypeScript, React and UI/UX as we are with Python, Rust and API design.

No recruiters or agencies please, any contact from recruiters will be marked as spam.

About Pydantic

Pydantic is an open source data validation library for Python written in Rust, it's downloaded over 100M times a month and used by basically every company you've heard of.

Earlier this year I (the creator of Pydantic), started a company to build developer tools with the same focus on developer experience that I think has made Pydantic successful.

You can read more about what we're building in our recent roadmap blog post — although what we're building isn't fully public, user experience will be paramount and frontend is a critical component of that. While we're a full stack team, we're looking for someone who can take the frontend from good to excellent.

We're VC backed (by Sequoia) and expect to raise our Series A next year.

Advantages

  1. Greenfield project — the codebase of the application we're building is only a few months old
  2. Lead — we want to hire someone opinionated and knowledgeable, who is excited to design both the application and the way we build frontends
  3. Work with great people — Pydantic's widespread recognition means we've been lucky enough to hire some of the best Python and full stack developers in the world
  4. Fully remote — we're a remote-first company, we get together in person roughly once a quarter for a week — next "offsite" will be in Istanbul in the first week of December
  5. Build developer tools — we think there's nothing more fun to develop than tools for developers, we hope you agree

Technical Requirements

The only non-negotiable technical requirement is that you have deep experience with TypeScript, React and the JavaScript ecosystem. You should care about developer experience, both within the team and for those using the tools we're building.

We're also looking for:

  1. An eye for design and UX — every day you'll make a thousand small design decisions (as well as some big ones 😉), we want someone who can make the right ones every time
  2. Experience with large and mature web applications — it'll help a lot if you've worked on a large client-side codebase before to help us avoid the common pitfalls that large applications so often fall into
  3. Experience working with other languages, in particular Python
  4. Experience working with cloud observability tools

Non-technical Requirements

  1. Required: Live and work in a timezone between PT (UTC-8) and CET (UTC+1)
  2. Required: Able to travel to EU, UK and US up to 4 times a year to join our off-sites

To apply, email hello@pydantic.dev. (Again, no recruiters please.)

I'm excited you guys are expanding your team! I have become a heavy Pydantic user in the past year or so, and it has completely changed the way I think about my code and apps. Keep up the great work!
