Dev of Future is an open source community where programmers share ideas and help each other grow. It was created in the middle of 2016 to connect more developers and designers to an ever-expanding network to foster software development excellence.
We believe it takes a village to raise a coder. We have created our virtual village for sharing and discovering great ideas, having debates, making friends, and also solve problems. Anyone can share articles, questions, discussions, etc. We make sure everyone is learning and are also motivated to become the world-class developers they desire to become.
Our mission is to connect developers, and anyone who wants to learn and share his knowledge with others. We also provide access to the best learning resources (contests, tutorials, blogs, etc.) from around the world. The community is in fact made of passionate developers sharing same ideas and who want to conquer the world with their works.
Because we care about our developers and wannabe, we have volunteered mentors for people who need direct assistance. We connect you with a mentor from the community and with him you'll schedule the rest and then the magic will happen!
The community members are always open to helping others with the skills and knowledge they have gained over the years. As a new designer/developer, you can tap into this robust knowledge base to become better at what you do and earn more in the process.
Bringing people to a community is quite simple, but keeping them there (motivation) is hard. In the process of building an online community, in the beginning, it can be fun, but getting to a certain stage it can become less fun. This depends on how motivated the community is.
To be good at what you do, you need to practice, because practice makes perfect. At DOF we understood that and, that is why we match remote teams to software projects. A team of random developers accross Africa (Maybe around the world why not ?) just pick a project from NGOs and start working on it in order to improve their skill.
We sort projects by different levels, from Beginner to Expert developers have the latitude to chose what project they want to work on. You work on a project that you think is fun and depending on your skill ! Helping NGO to make true their dream of having their our application/software is our take on the process of emergence of the continent. All what we're doing is for free, by the community and for the community! We're open to donation, if you want to be a backer we'll be very glad.

You can either register as a developer or as an NGO. If you register as a Developer you will need to provide your skill set, and before joining there'll be a little test. We promise just little 😉 .
