The list of most commonly used jQuery API functions

Here is the list of most commonly used jQuery API functions:

  • find(): Selects elements based on the provided selector string
  • hide(): Hides an element if it was visible
  • show(): Shows an element if it was hidden
  • html(): Gets or sets an inner HTML of an element
  • append() Injects an element into the DOM after the selected element
  • prepend() Injects an element into the DOM before the selected element
  • on(): Attaches an event listener to an element
  • off() Detaches an event listener from an element

If you're looking at this in 2016 and beyond, I strongly recommend investigating real headless Chrome: https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+/lkgr/headless/README.md

Windows and Mac users might find using Justin Ribeiro's Docker setup useful here while full support for these platforms is being worked out.

Checkout github pull requests locally

Locate the section for your github remote in the .git/config file. It looks like this:

[remote "origin"]
	fetch = +refs/heads/*:refs/remotes/origin/*
	url = git@github.com:joyent/node.git

Now add the line fetch = +refs/pull/*/head:refs/remotes/origin/pr/* to this section. Obviously, change the github url to match your project's URL. It ends up looking like this:
