It is friday night, I am getting ready to go to bed because tomorrow will be an early day. In the morning I am off to Hyannis to race F18 catamarans for a week. I guess that puts me in an adventurous mood and since I liked your post on HN here is a quick story about my life.

I studied music in high school, wanted to spend time with people who weren't artists.
So in did economics in college and loved it.
Studied computers and economic at university and missed the music and the arts so I became a DJ, partied and sailed too much and got mediocre grades. I worked just enough and when came the time to do a masters I took the hardest classes in econometrics because I like math and algorithms. But I don't like studying them as much as I like talking about them so it didn't work.
Just as I am failing incredibly interesting and difficult classes my godfather breaks a leg and needs help with his vacation rentals business. Best Christmas holidays ever! I end up moving to the mountain, learning sales and renovations, tourism and service. I buy some stock in the company, build a little system to track our bookings using google docs. Meet a girl while racing sailboats in Texas and fall in love with her.
So the now repetitive tasks of the business are not fun anymore. I want to spend time with this girl when she comes and visits, I want to travel with her and I get told I am not allowed. Really? Yes really! So the godfather offers to buy back my shares for a fraction of their value and sell them to someone who is more sedentary. Done!

That was much too personal but it is friday night and I might as well enjoy myself a little.

So last year I started working on an idea I had 4 years back (I should have done something about it then now it is a little late)
A vacation rental website, simple cheap with free booking management software and no commission. Just because online directories are natural monopolies and no one is pricing to grab that natural monopoly. That website isn't done: voya.ge

It is an uphill battle and chances are no one will respond to this message and I will keep on fighting the battle. But tonight I miss my Texan and I want to move to SF and she wants to move to SF and I am curious about what you want me to do for you but I love the idea of calling people and explaining to them how I can give them better software that works anywhere for a fraction of what they are paying greedy white men who know nothing about software.
