• Why are you applying for this job? (Suggested word limit: 125); I am applying because I feel very inspired of what you do and what you want to achieve. I have a bachelor degree in Sociology and Social policy, I also studied European Integration during my Master’s at Gothenburg University and all of this changed my life so that I believe in positive change in a world to be possible. I am very active citizen with my own NGO and I want to work on something, which has a deeper meaning. Also I feel that this job offers something very special, a big opportunity for only the most motivated ones, which I believe I am. I am a junior but I am confident in my IT knowledge and enthusiasm for learning and your company seems like a nice fit for me.

• What’s one idea, big or small, that you have for how advocacy organizations can use technology better? (Suggested word limit: 200) As advocacy movement you want to influence the public affairs without actually holding the power and that is hard. All you have is your voice. Technology is the best tool to make it heard! The popularity of classical media is declining, people more and more turn on to internet to get facts or to form an opinion. You can use technology to analyze the problems you are fighting with and then communicate the results with the people in a clear and persuasive way – like with data visualization! Me personally, I like the D3 framework for creating visualizations. I saw an interesting lecture about big data changing the world – so I am thinking about combining these together. Any advocacy should also use Facebook, Twitter and other social sites extensively not just because most of the young people are using it. The power of it is bigger than many knows, as the Arab Spring has showed us …Technology can unite people who normally would not get the chance to get together.

• List which of the “BIG PLUS” qualifications above you believe you bring to the table, with a few words of explanation if that’s useful (but keep it short!) I can proudly show you my personal project, the first app I have ever made. It is called Journey (http://journeyapp.net/) and it is about self-improvement (written in Ruby on Rails). Currently I am working on mobile app for Journey as I am learning Swift and iOS development. In my (still current but soon ending) job I was a backend developer of a project called hearth.net – the social site for sharing. During 8 months I worked fully remotely. I have lived abroad for a year when I was studying in Sweden. It made me much more culture aware and it broaden my perspectives. My favourite “Big plus” though is the experience with social change. I am constantly fighting for women position in IT as I feel there should be a better conditions for us ☺ I am co-organizing series of IT workshops for girls for free all over the Czech republic.
