Recipe: Tomato Pappu | |

Ingredients | |
=========== | |
Toor Dal : 1 measure | |
Tomatoes : 4-5 measures | |
Turmeric Powder : a pinch | |
Oil : 1 tea spoon / measure | |
Chilli Powder : 1 tea spoon / measure | |
Ginger Garlic Paste : 1 tea spoon / measure | |
Tamarind : 2-3 pieces / measure (2 inch pieces) | |
For Tadka: | |
Oil : 4 tea spoons | |
Dry Chilli : 3-4 pieces | |
Mustard Seeds : 1/2 tea spoon | |
Jeera : 1/2 tea spoon | |
Curry Leaf | |
Coriander | |
Coriander Powder | |
Procedure | |
========= | |
1. Put all the ingredients in 2-3 measures of water in a pressure cooker. | |
2. Put the cooker on stove and let the 2-3 whistles go off. | |
3. Turn off the stove and let it simmer. | |
4. After the pressure is out (i.e. cooker whistle stops wheezing), mildly grind the dal. | |
5. Add salt to taste. | |
Tadka: | |
1. Heat the Dry Chilli, Mustard Seeds and Jeera in oil until they turn brownish (careful: oil might splutter). | |
2. Remove from stove and add Curry Leaf, Coriander and Coriander Powder to it (careful: oil _will_ splutter). | |
Add the tadka to the dal (careful: it will splutter). |
