Several Linux distributions have built-in snap package support (Ubuntu and flavors, Solus, Zorin OS and KDE Neon). Other distributions require you to install first the snapd
package. See for details the page Installing snapd.
To install timg
, visit the timg
page at the Snap Store and click the green Install button at the top right.
Alternatively, you can install directly through the command line with the following command:
sudo snap install timg
Currently, the snap package of timg
is using the strict
confinement. This means that the executable can only open files from the user's home directory and subdirectories. It cannot open files from /tmp
, other non-home directories, or hidden subdirectories directories in the home folder (such as ~/.local/
). It cannot open files from mounted disks (under /media/
) but this can change if we ask for the permission at the Snap Store. For now, you can copy those files to the home directory and open from there.
The snap package of timg
is available on six hardware architectures. snapd
will automatically use the appropriate package for the architecture of your system. If you have access to any of the untested architectures, please try the timg
snap package and report back whether it worked or not.
