Expectation

  • To be able to boot/install operating system's on my X99 build.

Reality

  • Installing any operating system causes the machine to freeze.

Facts

  • This is a new build. All parts purchased at NCIX.
  • The BIOS will boot.
  • Secure Boot has been disabled (so it will be possible to dual boot Windows and Linux).
  • The 250GB SSD has been formatted.
  • The machine will freeze when attempting to boot/install Debian or Elementary OS, (via USB).
  • The machine will freeze when attempting to boot/install Windows 10 Pro (via USB).
  • Error code "AA" is what is displayed on motherboard when machine freezes.
  • AA is listed as "System has transitioned into ACPI mode. Interrupt controller is in ACPI mode".
  • All bootable USB installers used were created using a Mac (unetbootin).
  • When installing a Linux distro the installer will show and present a selection to eiether boot or install the OS. Regardless of choice selected the machine will crash and error code "AA" shows on motherboard.
  • When installing Windows 10 the installer will load. When install is chosen it then complains about drivers not being present and error code "AA" shows on motherboard.
