The Not Alone remix is intended to be, as many of our remixes are, a vocal arrangement with
no strict definition of genre, though definitely inspired by pop/electronic, etc.
Worth noting, the remix is literally 5 years old. OCRemix took the necessary time to create
a cohesive album, at the cost of having some very dated mixes
- but I'll preemptively agree that it doesn't matter. :)
That said, it does make talking about the remix a bit hard, as we created it so long ago :)
As Poolside, Melinda and I have always created controversial vocal remixes:

Shine Tonight (FF8 - Fragments of Memories) is by far one of the more polarizing remixes we've made.
This FF9 remix is made to be of that style, but also incorporating some of the melodic writing
styles Melinda employed in "Power of the Meat."
I'll point blank tell you that I knew the same polarization would occur with this mix,
but I'm happy with that.
Our mission is NEVER to please literally every listener,
but instead to add to the pallette of creative remixes of video game music.
"You're Not Alone" is an FF9 treasure of a piece - and one we were happy to cover.
There are so many fantastic covers of YNA that hit the usual genres, here are a few I love:
djpretzel - dubnofantasyaloneman : http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR00814
ertuan/katethegreat - You're not Alone : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmbgCBZ86z4
I suspect, if you're anything like me, you were likely expecting a remix more like Erutan's - alas, it's been done!
So, as a vocal remixer, what left are we to do but to DO CRAZY STUFF - crazy stuff we love doing!
"You and I [We're Not Alone]" is the result of that.
Anyway, for those that love it - thanks, for those that don't - it's expected, go listen to another version!
After all, music is all very different, and everyone has preferences. For those that like it - we're very grateful.
For those that don't - still very grateful, thank you for listening!
