Switch iTerm2 color preset automatic base on macOS dark mode.

The latest beta (3.5) includes separate color settings for light & dark mode. Toggling dark mode automatically switches colors.

Vist iTerm2 homepage or use brew install iterm2-beta to download the beta. Thanks @stefanwascoding.

Update as of 8.08.2021:

  • Hid the bookmarks bar and fine-tuned some header styles.

If you want to add your own style to Slack, here's how.

I dunno what happened. I just wanted to try something sporty/future-y, I guess. Code for this is directly below.

How I migrated from ReactRouter v2 to v4

First couple things I thought about when migrating after reading the docs

So migrating my existing app wasn't as troublesome as I originally thought. First thing I did was take a look at my router and routes and figure try to make a mental model of all the files where I had nested routes in the existing app because those components/containers will contain {this.props.children}. So I need to replace those with the nested <Match /> components.

So just to give an example:

In v2:

<Router history={history}>
  <Route path="/" component={App}>

var cat = {
name: "Kitty",

console.log("cat: " + this.name + ", method1 invoked with msg: " + msg);
this.method2(msg);

From Require.js to Webpack - Part 2 (the how)

This is the follow up to a post I wrote recently called From Require.js to Webpack - Party 1 (the why) which was published in my personal blog.

In that post I talked about 3 main reasons for moving from require.js to webpack:

  1. Common JS support
  2. NPM support
  3. a healthy loader/plugin ecosystem.

Here I'll instead talk about some of the technical challenges that we faced during the migration. Despite the clear benefits in developer experience (DX) the setup was fairly difficult and I'd like to cover some of the challanges we faced to make the transition a bit easier.

git undo script -- obviously git lacks a real undo feature, but sometimes in a moment frustration it can be worrying to not have the most common commands in mind after one makes a mistake. Just add a file named `git-undo` to a directory on your PATH and then run it with `git undo`
#!/usr/bin/env bash -e
cat <<TEXT
Git has no undo feature, but maybe these will help:
