Week 1

  • Describe the person that you want to become?
    • I want to be a competent developer, learning full stack, confident, financially stable, well versed and well rounded.
  • What have you done this week to work toward becoming that person?
    • Securing a freelance position to start upon graduation. I will need to start learning a bit of Ember.js on my own.
  • What habits, processes, and knowledge have you identified this week that you will need to improve on or obtain in order to become that person?
    • Cold outreach isn't as big a deal for me this mod because of my freelance gig. The gig has told me I could be hired full time within 2-3 months if I do well. So for my plan B, if it doesn't work out, I want to keep extending my network through meetups and practice the technical/behavioral interview prep if/when I need to pick up cold outreach/job apps again in a few months.
  • What wins or appreciations do you have for this past week?
    • Working with some BE folk, they were kind enough to explain some basics of making a table & what that process is on the BE. I'd like to learn more about this on my own, as I work towards being full-stack after Turing.
  • What struggles did you encounter?
    • The normal Turing overwhelm. Weighing out priorities properly.
  • How well did you stick to your calendar this past week? Did you spend more/less time in some areas than planned? If so, what areas and why?
    • Yesterday I didn't accomplish the project goals I had in mind, but overall we're still on track/on time. Mapping out only 2, maybe 3 main things to do each day would help me most. Trying to do lots of PD, project work, AND interview prep / exercisms is too much sometimes. Flip flop days on PD / interview prep.
  • Do you need to adjust your calendar for next week?
    • Yes. I need to find 1 meetup to attend & 1-2 self care activities for my mental health.

Week 2

  • Describe the person that you want to become?
    • I want to be a competent developer, learning full stack, confident, financially stable, well versed and well rounded.
  • What have you done this week to work toward becoming that person?
    • Signing initial paperwork for contract. Working hard on this project. Working on interview behavioral/technical practice.
  • What habits, processes, and knowledge have you identified this week that you will need to improve on or obtain in order to become that person?
    • 1 code challenge per day. Practice behavioral interviews. Attend meetups, expand network. In a few weeks I'll look more into Ember.js for my contract work.
  • What wins or appreciations do you have for this past week?
    • Nice helpful classmates & alum who've been there, supported, and encouraged me.
  • What struggles did you encounter?
    • Pairing on this project. I work best alone & it's difficult to purely pair with a partner when your processes are very different.
  • How well did you stick to your calendar this past week? Did you spend more/less time in some areas than planned? If so, what areas and why?
    • 80%, I'd say. Got busy but hoping to do more code challenges this weekend.
  • Do you need to adjust your calendar for next week?
    • Just make sure to attend the code socials I have listed :)
