Core Team Notes 9/17/17

Todos/Commitments

  • Jordan to email Ben about researching new places
  • Men to review their Core Team roles and take appropriate actions

Team Checkins

Umoto:

  • Core team met 4 times this year
  • divided up the men among core team
    • checkins weekly
    • Doing MBA exercises with each man
  • We created exercises to prepare men for the MBA program
  • We want to make sure that every man has an MBA list that is inspiring, actionable, and measurable
  • Core team aims for low drama
  • Core team works hard to be unified in our plan with our voice
  • Have themes for every single Wednesday
  • Men seem bought in on the intra-week calls
  • Sad that we can't take on any new men
  • Merging circling 1.0 and 2.0

Logistics

  • 16 men one night, 19 men second
  • 4 men in HC
    • 3 existing
    • 1 second season

SF - Eclipse

  • two groups combined into one big circle
  • Minimal logistics, minimal overhead, maximum authenticity
  • Not being the force that pushes men, but taking the time to really be together
  • Intrepid came away with a really strong sense of circling
  • Eclipse is trying to continue the circling tradition
  • Trying to create a culture where men are not passengers
  • Not because we have created structures
  • Eclipse is trying and take as much HC bureaucracy offline
  • Will be flexible with team size
    • Split up into two teams if enough/too many men
      
  • MBA started a week late
  • Pillars to be a "North Star"

###Logistics:

  • Fairly good turnout
    • 15-16 men

  • Big team:
    • 21 men + 3 in HC
      
  • 3 men in HC
    • 2 new men
      
    • 1 repeating
      
  • Locations:
    • First and Third at Chrissy
    • 2nd and 4th into the Presidio

Crucible

  • Slocum: first time leading, exciting and challenging
  • Core team:
    • Mo has one year on Core, but Slocum and Vav are new. Karim brings some experience
    • Change emotionally from Randy leading for two seasons
    • Want to bring in more of the sacred realm into the Circle
    • Focus on accountablility
    • Intention to gather in person
    • Pillar work:
      • In progess and will be a focus
    • Wariness over the bureaucracy of 2.0
  • Direction
    • Focus on pillars
    • Riding wave of 2.0
    • Some pushback from men about wanting to Circle
    • Recognizing the foundational pieces that still work
    • Somewhere in between Umoto
  • Health of team feels good
    • Good attendance
    • "Feels solid and 'juiced'"

Logisitics

  • Turnout:
    • 5 visting
    • 3 mens stepped up
    • 2 new men in HC

  • David Ferrera and Shakiban have signed up for a seasonal engagement

Pillar check ins

  • questions:
    • anybody need support for completing pillars?
    • What is the process of HO'ing a person
      • We imagine that each man will bring their list to Circle
  • There is a Pillar list -- a spreadhseet doc

Initiation

  • Because 2.0 has launched, we can make initiation look different
  • Tilden vs. Ocean Beach/Tilden rotation?
    • May be a question for the entire circle
    • Our Votes:
      • Alex: Tradition
      • Ben: Tradition!
      • Slocum: Open to Tilden
      • Frank: Open
      • Alexander: Tradition
      • Mo: Tradition, but open
      • Vav: Privacy, but not attached to where
      • Jordan: Tilden
    • Possible solution is to find a different SF spot

Date Changes

  • 2nd Wednesday of 4th month is to be pillar checkout night
    • All Core Team believed this was in the Circle's interest
