The PHP language owner is responsible for the success of Heroku developers building in PHP. They are part of the broader “languages team”, a group of developers with similar language-specific responsibilities and shared infrastructure.

A language owner will be responsible for varying degrees of

  • building core language-specific features such as the “build pack”,
  • working within the community to improve projects upstream to provide a better experience for Heroku users,
  • customer outreach,
  • customer support,
  • sales support,
  • language-specific documentation and content, and
  • marketing responsibilities such as attending and speaking at conferences.

To be successful in this role you should be intimately aware of the current idioms and best practices for development, the direction the community is going, as well as the more common bad habits people have. Recognition within the community through authorship of a well-recognized community tool or service and/or a history of conference speaking are desirable.

You should be prepared to interact directly with users via email, at conferences, and during occasions such as office hours. We welcome people who prefer to work remotely for this position, though we are headquartered in San Francisco.

Stefano Sala

Hello! My name is Stefano. I am a software developer since 2003, coming from Italy, I'm now living in the countryside near Zurich.

I am a freelance since a couple of years, after beeing employed in top consultancy companies and agencies.

While I have some experience in the frontend development, I've been moving toward backend web development with Symfony2 framework and testing methodologies.

Please have a look at my Github profile and at my resume.

Plus points I can offer:

  • flexibility: as a freelance I'm used to work hard and to be results oriented
  • european timezone: I can offer a broader support as I live in a different timezone
  • languages: Italian mother tongue, but I studied French for 7 years. I'm learning German and I can understand and speak a bit of Spanish.
  • community involvement: I'm in love with the PHP community, I'm attending several conferences (PHPDay [IT], Frontend Conf [CH], desymfony [ES]).
  • remote working: I'm used to work form home (I like it so much!), but from time to time I like to join coworking spaces.

Here are my contact details:

I hope to hear from you soon!

Kind regards

Stefano
