At Heroku we have the unique problem of building and deploying software that allows our customers to build and deploy software. Our internal Tools team helps engineers be more productive, and is currently focused on making the experience of getting code from engineers’ laptops to production safely and quickly. We build polished products for our internal teams that are just as great as what we give our customers externally.
We’re looking for an engineer in the EMEA (Europe/Middle East/Africa) region that will be responsible for:
- Understanding problems engineers at Heroku have
- Prioritizing the most widespread problems to ensure we have the greatest impact
- Writing clear, simple software to solve these problems
- Thinking deeply about how software is developed, and how to improve the engineering process
- Calling Heroku's world class engineering organization your customers and building awesome tools they want to use everyday
Qualified candidates should have:
- Experience with iterative software development using Ruby, Rails, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
- Comfort with the standard GitHub pull request workflow
- Strong understanding and experience with continuous delivery and automated testing
- Experience carrying a pager for a production service
- Technical proficiency with Heroku, RESTful web services, and Linux
- Working knowledge of large scale service-oriented infrastructure and the design of scalable, highly available systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with geographically distributed teams and people of various backgrounds
