Gear Up Assignment

What role does empathy play in your life and how has it helped you?

Empathy has always played an important role in my life. Empathy allows me to understand and connect with the people around me, and without it, I would not be able to effectively work or interact with others. These skills have been essential in my previous customer service roles in the service and retail industry. Self awareness in regard to my interaction with others, ultimately allows me feel fulfilled when I reflect on the day. During the course of my life, certain situation and events have allowed me to develop and put my feelings of empathy in context. I hope to continue developing my empathy to be more aware of issues and situations that affect people from different backgrounds and cultures that I am less familiar with.

How does empathy help you build better software?

Pairin Test

What is your greatest strength and how do you know?

According to the Pairin Test, my strongest category is Entrepreneurial. Within that category, I think my greatest strength comes from my ability to be creative and imaginative when it comes to solving problems. When a problem presents itself, I am inclined to investigate and solve it using a unique and thorough approach. I am unlikely to believe the problem is completely solved without fully dissecting it and coming to satisfying resolution.

How do you work best?

I work equally well individually or in a team. When working with others I need to manage my intensity level and desire for control. I have the ability to balance my desire for personal success with my concern for the success of others which should prove helpful when working on collaborative projects. I need a little motivation to get going, but when I have a guideline, a plan, and expectations there is no stopping me.

What is your greatest area of improvement?

I think I can im

What I Plan to Improve at Turing

What do you plan to improve on at Turing?

At Turing, I first and foremost plan to improve my understanding of computer programming and software design. I would like to improve my understanding of the language, the implications of good and bad software design, how to effectively channel coding knowlege to craft objectively good programs, and how help improve those that already exist. I also plan to improve upon my ability to work collaboratively, taking into account the unique personalities and learning stlyes of those in my cohort. These strategies will help me be a more effective developer and more desirable employee.

What is the Value of a Checklist?

What is the value of a checklist?

A checklist is essential for creating a group of information that requires attention. It allows the user to map out required steps or tasks and indcate when they have been addressed or completed. A checklist doesn't require tasks to be completed in any particular order nor does it assign any priority by default. Checklists serve as a tool to consolidate a group of important information while also allowing the user to track and prioritize tasks.
