In-Class Reflections Using the Signature Themes Report

Read through the definitions:

What words or phrases stick out to you for each theme?

Context: "You must discipline yourself to ask the questions and allow the blueprints to emerge because no matter what the situation, if you haven’t seen the blueprints, you will have less confidence in your decisions."

Intellection: "You are the kind of person who enjoys your time alone because it is your time for musing and reflection. You are introspective. In a sense you are your own best companion, as you pose yourself questions and try out answers on yourself to see how they sound. "

Connectedness: "Things happen for a reason. You are sure of it." " If we are all part of a larger picture, then we must not harm others because we will be harming ourselves."

Learner: "Your excitement leads you to engage in adult learning experiences—yoga or piano lessons or graduate classes."

Empathy: "You can sense the emotions of those around you. You can feel what they are feeling as though their feelings are your own."

How would you define each of your top 5 talents in your own words?

Context: I need to understand the history to understand where I am at. Probably why I love history so much. Intellection: Constantly reflecting, and needing time alone to do it. Connectedness: My (irrational?) belief in fate. But I still believe. Learner: Most happy when learning new things, and of the process of learning. Empathy: Able to sense the emotions around me. Been true my whole life. Only reason I am able to write songs, I think.

Do these top 5 talent themes resonate with you? Why or why not?

Absolutely. Pretty suprised how accurate each one was, but also not because of my love of psychology.

Further Reflections

How have you seen yourself using each of these talents? How often do you see yourself using these talents?

With Intellection combined with Context, I am almost constantly thinking about how I arrived where I am at. Not so sure these are talents sometimes, but I am very curious to see how they could be applied to my future career as strengths. As the description says in Intellection: " Wherever it leads you, this mental hum is one of the constants of your life."

When has it been difficult for you to be aware of these talents?

Not really. Because I am keenly introspective, I tend to be very aware of my strengths, but lately, maybe even more aware of my weaknesses.

When might you overuse any of these themes? How might you benefit from dialing them down in a certain situation?

Oh man. With Intellection, I miss

How could you use these themes to help you manage an area in which you might struggle?
