how to setup gitter server on hexchat/xchat

  1. Main Menu -> Network list -> Add

  2. Rename "New Network" to "GitterIM"

  3. Then "Edit" -> Servers Tab -> Add -> "irc.gitter.im"

  4. Check "Connect automatically"

  5. Check "Use SSL"

  6. Uncheck "Use global"

  7. Nickname: Fill in your-github-username

  8. Username: Same as above

  9. Login method: select Server password

  10. Password: Specified by gitter

  11. Close or Connect
