We are looking for someone who understands a typical medium size django stack
(django, postgresql, celery, south, redis, PIL, and various other python libs)
and can turn that in to a high scale production ready environment.
Of course they will decide on the best infrastructure, however it's estimated
that we'll need more than one database server and a couple of load balanced
front end / cache servers.
We will also need an identical stage setup, so a server configuration tool like
puppet would be useful. Again, we would follow the advise of the person doing
the job. We have a deployment script (using fabric) in place already that we
use to deploy to our integration server, however this will need to be extended
to work with the larger server setup
The ideal situation would be to set the system up ASAP on a ~4 week contract
and then provide some cover for our launch or expected busy times. Again, how
best to manage this can be worked out later.
Please contact @symroe
We have 2 django devs in house who have a reasonable level of knowledge about
servers, so some training on how the system works would be required for the
longer term maintenance of the project.
We would at least want someone who can work in the Victoria area at times, and
be available for meetings.
### Essential knowledge and skills:
* Several years of practical experience with Linux distributions
* Experience in setting up high scale environments with several servers
* Low level networking experience with load balancing
* Proficient bash programming
* Experience with Postgresql replications and Redis
* Knowledge of at least one configuration management tool such as puppet, chef etc.
* Knowledge of network security
* Previous experience with deploying a django stack
### Desirable knowledge and skills:
* Knowledge of Python/Django, Celery, South migrations and other python libs
* Knowledge of Fabric
