Thinking about a problem set Aella and Alister have been dealing with at the shop (at least as I imagine it based on some snippets of conversation.) Breaking it down further...
A small sammy shop deals with menu construction, costing, suppliers, inventory, equipment, personnel, training, licensing, maintenance, cleaning, customer service, accounting (payables, receivables, cash), taxes, entertaining (employees, private parties, community outreach), marketing/advertising, discipline, security, and eventually divestiture.
Curious viewing these scopes through the lens of a software engineer and systems/application designer.
Consider and outline steps to digest the needful into tasks and processes to cover various work flows and challenges from that problem set.
Opportunity cost, traction, stickiness. (Can I bring value? Is this likely to keep me engaged? Training a replacment/hand off and avoiding key man risk.)
Competitive landscape: Is this already being done better and/or more economically by someone else? (RFC)
