I'm Having a Panic Attack

Don't worry, I'll be fine

  • Start telling me a story - anything to keep my mind from wandering
  • Don't be nervous - I managed to write this card, I'll be okay
  • Don't expect a reaction from me - but if I do talk or interact it's a good thing
  • Ask me something simple every few minutes - yes or no questions are good
  • If we're in public, don't make a scene - having more people around will make me nervous

Stop Having a Panic Attack

You'll be fine, stop worrying.

  • Give someone the card you made
  • If no one's around don't worry, you've done this many times successfully on your own
  • Put your hand on your abdomen and feel yourself breath normally
  • Don't try too hard, but breathing slower will help
  • Drink something cold and carbonated if you can
  • Stay warm
  • Turn on a TV if you're alone, try to pay attention to whatever you're watching
