About Sustainable Systems, LLC:

Sustainable Systems, LLC is an affordable housing technology company committed to addressing humanities biggest challenges with human-community cooperation through innovative solutions. We are embarking on an ambitious project to address the housing affordability crisis with a groundbreaking product: a low-cost, portable micro-home designed for a distributed network of micro-home communities. We are seeking a passionate and skilled Lead Mechanical Engineer to spearhead the first phase of development, focusing on conceptual design and requirements gathering for our pod micro-home architecture.

Role Overview:

As the Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will be at the forefront of creating a sustainable, scalable solution to one of society's most pressing issues. You will leverage your expertise in mechatronics, vehicular systems, and mechanical process automation to design and prototype a new breed of micro-homes that are not only affordable but also embody the ideals of freedom and independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the conceptual design and development of the micro-home, focusing on innovation, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Apply principles of mechatronics and automation to develop intelligent, efficient, and user-friendly systems within the micro-home.
  • Oversee the integration of vehicular systems to ensure the micro-home's portability and compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications and designs.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, simulations, and testing to validate designs and ensure they meet functional, safety, and quality standards.
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends and technologies in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, and related fields to drive continuous innovation within the project.
  • Engage with stakeholders to present design concepts, gather feedback, and make informed adjustments to the development plan.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in mechanical design, preferably in the context of housing, vehicular systems, or related industries.
  • Strong foundation in mechatronics and process automation, with the ability to innovate and solve complex engineering problems.
  • Proficiency in CAD and simulation software for design and testing.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to lead a project from conception through to completion.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
