first try

The Pixel C keyboard I'd so irritating. It does not want to disappear!

Github seems to be having some issues, but nonetheless it saved my file. Yay!

What things that will last forever?

Software and data will last longer than hardware devices because data can be transferred from device to device.

Bodies die but souls live forever - or have an easier time being reincarnated.

But someday that will last better than others. The main criteria is probably file type. ASCII text files will probably last the longest. Certain other types May last as well so just image files that are jpg or PNG format. After that it gets a bit tricky. But most anything that moves through email might be a reference point. Find ways files may be ok. But any strange formulations of binary files will be less likely to be carried on because nobody will know what to do with them or how to read them.

Also to be considered is encryption. Eventually anything will be able to be on encrypted has anyone get computers get to be superhuman speed. But in the meantime encrypted files or less likely to last than unencrypted files.

Which should be files be kept in order to last a very long time. A good place to start is places that keep files for free. This would include Flickr and get him. Both these organizations have a policy of not erasing files that are public. Another place in my behind to use Google Groups.

The idea is that the files here are moderately important to society and so society will want to keep these files. Of course many if not most of the files are not important and kind of useless, but the effort to do it real hard to get rid of these files is too great. It will be easier to keep everything then to try and throw out the garbage.

The cost of keeping files is getting less and less. Eventually the cost of keeping the file will dwindle to almost nothing. And it will be possible to keep billions and billions and billions of files very easily about no cost and so this will happen. When that does happen it will kind of mean that whatever data is still there will last until the end of time.

is Google evil?

The first consideration is whether Google is doing anything illegal or not. I find this quite unlikely for three reasons:

Google like any major corporation is audited annually by a firm of accountants whose job it is to keep things above the board in many aspects mostly to do with money but much to do with obeying accounting laws and tax regulations and the like. If anything seriously illegal in the past year in the firm of accounts would be reporting this in the audit. (Note: various individual employees might have done something illegal in the past year, but I do not take that as being the firm doing something illegal.)

The second aspect is that Google is a very large public corporation and extremely valuable on the stock market. This means that the SEC and many other government agencies monitor Google almost continuously. There is nothing that a district attorney would like to do more than extract money or penalties from the peeps at Google.

The third aspect is that if there is anything bad there are also whistleblowers. People who see bad things happening want to reveal these things to the public. Sometimes it's for money sometimes it's for fame but the word gets out. Just asked mr. Snowden or Bradley Manning or Daniel Schwartz.

It seems very unlikely that a publicly traded company can do anything illegal for any length of time. Yes, of course, coming to do bad things. Look at Enron or MCI. Look at the coal mining companies and look at the cigarette manufacturers. But in the end they get caught out and in the end up at practices must stop.

The second aspect is whether a company like Google is ethical or not. This is more difficult to answer. Google, Microsoft and Apple and Amazon and many of our top tech companies did not get to be the leaders of Industry by being mr. Nice guy by playing fair or by obeying all the rules completely the gentle people are meant to follow.

A visible example is the way all of these companies have avoided paying taxes. In virtually every situation they are 100% following the laws of the country they are operating in. They have however, spent much money and much time hiring the best lawyers and best accountants who come up and devise clever schemes that obey all laws but avoid taxes. They also pay for lobbyists to make sure that those that are kind to them or maintained. And overall they do much so that any normal legislature in any normal country can I possibly be getting to follow the shenanigans they have created let alone device laws that would stop the shenanigans.

But as we are finding out these issues are being found out and slowly but surely steps are being taken to prevent these events from ongoing.

A trick or subterfuge becomes public and then becomes unethical. Is there a name for this? Does this follow some kind of a joke paradigm?

Anyway, the interesting thing is that the lsrge tecg companies have ammassed hundreds of billions of dollars because of untaxed progits, And yet the money is virtuallu unused because it cannot be repatriated without paying more taxes.

Se see ffunds unethically gained yet assiduously reported.

Taking Notes

The nice thing about GitHub Gists is that all the revisions are saved. Spell checking is fairly good. Use of screen space kind of sucks.

I will mostly likely look into building an editor based on Ace that saves to a gist. This would mean that everything is online from the get-go. It might be fun to take my Analemma 3D projects and write them out to gists as well. And then move them on to bl.ocks.org or jsfiddle. You could start editing the code the moment you read the code. And the code would automatically for can be on your own jsFiddle as well as your own gist.

And my own notes - instead of being locked away in my various hard drives and clouds - could be public as well.

My coding style

I do not really want to follow fashion nor do I want to create a new fashion or Style. What I want to do is things happen the way I feel things should happen and let the style evolved out of that. All of this is props a new way of saying open quote form follows function close quote.

In particular the people I write for attending people write programs well, the font used for writing almost all programs are monotype fonts which character has the same width. So I use a fixed with phone - very start Dash in whatever I do.

Mostly I just use blacks and grays for color. But when I do use color I try and make the most of it. Most designers will tell you that a website should have no more than about five or six colors. But what about the 16 million colors that your computer supports? I'd love to find new ways of using many of those colors in my designs.

Words

Well I am certainly turning out a good number of words and thoughts using the Google pixel C with Android voice recognition. Combined invoice and keyboard is lovely. Also the device is nice and small and if it's on my desk in between computers and all my other toys. I must learn to do this more consistently.

Lunch with Ronan Berder

Lunch was really fun. Because Hannah was really on my case. Encourage me to do my own marketing and sales at the same time as I'm doing my code writing. Making myself more visible to people. But I think the main thing is that he is taking an interest in what I'm doing. Someone like Mostafa or Richard, this somebody who looks at what I have bills and find it interesting and wants to help me get it out into the world. He was particularly interested in the analemma 3D aspects.
