Contact Form 7 Custom Validations

CF7 4.1 changed the validation functionality and old versions of this code no longer work. This is a fix with backward compatibility according to http://contactform7.com/2015/01/06/contact-form-7-41-beta/

I've tested this on a version of CF7 4.0.2 and i get the following error on submit:

The wording on the blog post about the 4.1 beta changes was a little confusing. I've fixed the backward compatibility issue and it should work with older CF7 versions too.
