- Apex (huge selection on tap, laid back atmosphere)
- Cascade (only if you like sour beers, but if so, you're in heaven)
- Hair of the Dog (Belgian style ales, sweet and strong, often barrel aged.)
- Bailey's Tap Room (large selection, centrally located, usually crowded with techies, though. They have an upstairs which is sometimes quiter, but not always open.)
- Breakside (One of my favorite breweries in town, not very central though.)
- Prost (Lots of German imported beers.)
- Radar (american small plates, excellent quality, reasonably priced.)
- Pok Pok (modern Thai)
- Toro Bravo (tapas)
- Noble Rot (on the third floor so great view of the city.)
- Tasty & sons / Tasty & Alder : great for brunch, but also for dinner, I hear
- Sweedeedee: excellent brunch, be prepared to wait.
- Masu (Sushi)
- Hokusei (sushi)
- Bamboo (sushi, go to the one on the east side, the one in northwest is too noisy.)
- Little Big Burger (get the truffle fries)
- Blue Star Donuts (best donuts in the world)
- Salt & Straw (very very good ice cream)
- All the food carts. The biggest pod is on 10th & Alder, plenty of choices there, but Guëro is my favorite. (Mexican tortas).
