I'm hoping this will help other people seeking to identify this component.
I²C digital temperature sensor IC from Mitsumi (MinebeaMitsumi).
Comes in an SO-8 (SOP-8D) package. The marking 286C is on the bottom right. The "M" logo in the upper left looks a lot like the logo for Microchip. There is a 3-digit date code to the right of the logo (probably YWW; e.g., 646, 749).
It looks like it has the same specs as the MM3285 (MM3285 datasheet), but that seems to be available only in SOT-23-5 (SOT-25A) and SOT-23-6 (SOT-26A) packages.

- Data update time: 2 ms
- Supply voltage: 3 V to 5.5 V
- Ambient temperature: -40 °C to 125 °C
It is used in many LG commercial displays (and a few other TVs) and has LG part number EBD38015101 with type Sensor,Temperature and description MM3286CFBE 0.3~3.6 SOP 8P R/TP TEMPERATURE SENSOR MITSUMI.
On the LG commercial TV boards with chassis number LW79A (EAX67383302(1.0)) and LW69A (EAX66892203(1.0)), IC6201 is an MM3286CFBE. The A0 and A2 pins are connected to ground through zero-ohm links, and A1 is pulled up to 3.3 V through a 10 kΩ resistor. The O.S. pin does not appear to be connected to anything. The SDA and SCL lines are connected through 33 Ω series resistors (AR6202) to an I²C bus that is pulled up to 3.3 V through 3.3 kΩ (AR103) near the SoC. The I²C bus branches off near AR6202 to somewhere else unknown.
