| We’re counting down the days until Summernats 26 and with less than two months to go it’s getting busy. Work crews are flat out building the new burnout pad and entries are pouring in like someone opened the taps. | |

| It’s not just the guys who are getting excited about Summernats. There’s plenty of car crazy ladies who are getting ready for the big event as well – like Chantelle White with her bright pink VT Commodore. “The car colour is out of a nail polish I picked up,” she says. “We mixed it to match that, the colour doesn’t actually have a name. It’s also got a white pearl over it and Prizmatech as well.” | |

| “This will be my first time going to Summernats, as spectator or an entrant, so yeah it’s going to be good,” Chantelle says. With only two months left she’ll be flat out making sure her sweet ride is finished in time. “It was a V6, but now it’s getting a 5.7-litre with a cam and shift kit.” | |

| At just 20 years old Chantelle is just off her P-Plates and she’s excited about her first V8, but there’s a lot more in store for her Commodore before the ‘Nats. “It’s been sponsored by Kicker and just had a big system installed by Sounds Good in Parramatta,” she says. “It’s got six DVD screens plus two 15in Kicker subs going in the boot with LED lights around every speaker and the whole car has been Dynamatted.” | |

| So definitely one for the Sound Off then? “Oh yeah, but I’m going to do some driving events too, maybe even a burnout. Just a short one so I can show my friends.”<br /> | |

| Okay, so this one isn’t from very far in the past, but what a performance it was. Steve Sines smoking out the burnout pad in his KINGER HZ Holden at Summernats 25. Steve scored an automatic entry to the Liqui Moly Burnout Masters after finishing in the top ten at ‘Nats 24 and he made the long trip over from Western Australia to have another crack at the crown. | |

| With the little Chev V8 singing loud and proud as he whipped it into the burnout pad the bright blue Kingswood covered the Summernats burnout arena in smoke. Bouncing off the limiter Steve spun the steering wheel side to side as he worked the pad and then he flicked it backwards towards the guard rail as the last tyre popped and the engine stopped. | |

| Steve climbed out and stood atop the blower in what’s become his customary salute to the crowd, but it all came undone when he tried to refire the engine. | |

| The engine had stopped because it had sheared the snout off the crank and that meant Steve couldn’t drive off under his own power. It was a crippling blow to the West Australian and killed any chance of a top ten finish. | |
