How to make a pour over

Equipment

Technique

  1. Fill kettle 3/4ths full and put on high heat
  2. Put dripper on top of carafe, fold filter and put in dripper
  3. Dose and grind coffee to medium "sea salt" grains
  4. When water is boiling, take off heat and pour some immediately into the filter to wet and warm everything
  5. Pour a little water into the mug you're going to drink out of to warm it too
  6. Pour ground beans evenly into filter
  7. 30 seconds after water boils, dump carafe water and pour enough kettle water to fully wet the grinds into the dripper
  8. The coffee should bubble up releasing gas, wait 10-20 seconds for this to stop
  9. Slowly pour the rest of the water over the coffee in a circular motion
  10. Time it so the last of the water drips out right at 3 minutes
  11. Serve the coffee from the carafe to your mug (dump out the water that was keeping it warm), cover carafe
  12. Enjoy!
