Content Management Skill: Installing WordPress on Blacknight.

Learn to use Blacknight.com Linux Maximus to host a WordPress site.

Read previous thoughts shared concerning content management and learning through design. These collaborative documents complement academic assessments on the Clonmel Digital Campus.

Tasks (four hours to accomplish)

  • Review the tasking document and Powerpoint deck on Moodle.
  • Install WordPress through Blacknight Control Panel.
  • Map a domain name to your installation.
  • Set up hyperlinked RSS icon.
  • Finish WordPress 5 certification.
  • Complete by the suspense date.

Workflow

Hour One Specific Workflow

  1. Log into control panel.
  2. Ensure your domain has web hosting by viewing Blacknight CP > Websites
  3. Select Linux maximus.
  4. Choose odin panel > websites.
  5. Select domain for your wordpress installation.
  6. Click into Website tools > web applications.
  7. Click install.
  8. Install wordpress.
  9. Ensure DB and PHP will install.
  10. Install wordpress on root domain.
  11. Use vetted Passwords.
  12. Finish installation.
  13. Screenshot your installation.

Hour Two Specific Workflow

  1. Apply a theme.
  2. Set up five or more plug-ins.
  3. Show hyperlinked RSS icon.
  4. Document your installation in class notebook.

Extra Credit

Produce a LinkedIn status update citing your new Wordpress installation skills.

Deployment

Add additional notes about how to deploy your finished website.
