I think you could do it more simple, when you have the two exports in your .gitemail file and just "source" it.

@ypetya: this would be simpler, but raises a similar issue as the automatic sourcing behavior of .rvmrc files does: As a user, I must know that I can trust the .gitemail file not to contain malicious code. The other use case I had in mind was to support multiple authors who share the same user / account (as is common for pairing workstations at some companies). On a shared system with a single user, this issue becomes more apparent.
