Please describe the current vision you have for your career. What are the values that will drive your job search? What are your goals for your job search? What kind of role do you see yourself pursuing in your job search?
  • My current vision for my upcoming career has slightly changed in recent months, given the present global pandemic. The core value that drives me is a belief in the inherent dignity of the human being. Therefore, I hope to work to support and ensure that dignity — that right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, to cite the Declaration of Independence — by offering individuals useful, new, supportive technology to help them live their lives in a more full and productive way. I believe this is obtainable through the sharing of information and the lessening of drudgery in carrying out many of the ordinary tasks of life, and so I believe that the technological revolution brought by computers, and computer coding, is a key element to achieve these goals. What role does empathy play in your life and how has it helped you?

Empathy has played a big role in my life recently. Finding help for landscaping is very hard. The majority of people looking for day labor usually have exhausted all other options. Being nonjudemental and giving them a shot regardless of the reasons they are in this spot has made me a better person. Everyone has rough times in their life. Empathy has allowed me to not shun them away or scrutinize decisions they've made that got them there.

How does empathy help you build better software?

Empahty helps build better software by understanding what is important to people. Software is moving towards a more personal space in peoples lives. Everyone has needs and wants. If you can connect with that and use software to address these its a success. In terms of writing software... an empathic develeper will write cleaner code thinking about other developers having to read/maintain that code.

What is your greatest strength and how do you know?

My greatest strength is perserverence. I am very determined with whatever it is I do and giving up is not in my vocabulary. There have been many times throughout my life especially with sports where I've struggled. I always want to best the best in whatever I do. In doing so it takes alot of work and me having to dig deep to persevere. I realize there is no such thing as perfection, which means I can only do the best I can. Therefore if I push through anything that is in the way of me becoming the best I can at something, I have reached my level of perfection.

How do you work best?

I work best in a team group setting. I strongly believe that groups who can work well togehter will accomplish much more than any indivdual. I love being able to bounch ideas off one another and brainstorm collectively. Also having multiple oulooks on one specific goal or idea can be extremly beneficial in determing how to approach it.
