Skizzium is turning 3 years old

Skizizum's 3rd Birthday

We extend our gratitude to everyone who attended the stream. Special thanks to those who rehearsed and performed their assigned parts flawlessly.

This year's stream surpassed last year's Wireframe QnA in terms of quality. While there are areas for improvement, overall, things went according to plan. Unfortunately, the stream is lost due to YouTube's UX design, but you can stay updated with the latest announcements through this document.

To apply for any mentioned positions, join our Discord server: https://discord.gg/5rjBEzT9Bm and visit the applications channel. Stay informed by following us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/@Skizzium or check out the Skizzium Platform roadmap: https://trello.com/b/8mk5osPY.

Community News

At Skizzium, we value our community of just over 13,000 members. Despite its smaller size, we take pride in the quality of interactions within our community. We have been actively updating our Discord server and improving various aspects such as rules, credits, and applications to enhance the community experience. Our goal is to create a clear and transparent environment for meaningful discussions.

To foster inclusivity, we are reevaluating the level perks, aiming to make the leveling system more accessible. We want to reduce barriers and make it easier for members to participate and share content, such as allowing image sharing without reaching higher levels.

We plan to expand our community platforms by launching an improved subreddit for discussions and announcements. We will also introduce a developers forum on our website to facilitate collaboration and support a vibrant community of creators. To ensure a smooth experience, we will be seeking active moderators through an enhanced application process available in our Discord server.

Additionally, we will be opening applications for social media manager volunteers. If you're passionate, have strong communication skills, and are familiar with various social media platforms, watch out for the application opening.

We appreciate the patience and support of our community as we work to improve and expand our platforms. Your feedback and involvement are crucial, and we are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome and engaged. Together, we will shape the future of Skizzium and build a strong community based on creativity, collaboration, and shared passions.

Skizzium Mods

Skizzium Mods is our platform's flagship project, offering modders a modern and easy way to share their creations and earn income through ads. While the backend is almost finished, we're meticulously designing the frontend for a seamless user experience.

We aim to release the initial preview version of the website within the next year, focusing on core elements like account management and mod sharing. Our dedicated team will then enhance the platform with essential tools such as ad revenue, analytics, and localization support. We also have plans to add comment sections, release branches, third-party integrations, and the ability for users to donate to their favorite modders.

If you want to contribute significantly to our website's development, consider applying for a developer or UI/UX designer role through the applications channel in our Discord server. Strong JavaScript skills are required for developers, and familiarity with MongoDB and Express or NextJS and Bootstrap is preferred, depending on the specific area of the website.

Our commitment to continuous improvement ensures that Skizzium Mods will become a comprehensive resource for modders and gamers. Stay updated by following our social media accounts or accessing the public roadmap in the welcome channel.

DodgeBrawl

Introducing DodgeBrawl, our exciting new multiplayer PvP game currently in development. DodgeBrawl combines our previous ideas from Project Zeus with fresh concepts and established genre standards. In this game, 3 players are divided into 2 teams and spawn in an arena, with each team confined to their own side. Before the match begins, players select their element, determining their speed, damage, and abilities. The objective is to utilize ranged abilities to shoot and damage opponents, inflicting knockback based on the total amount of damage received.

Fast-paced movement mechanics, including dashing and double jumping, allow players to dodge attacks. Additionally, to add excitement to each round, we've added powerup orbs that provide a range of benefits, from healing to stat buffs and even a temporary berserk mode, making players unstoppable for a brief period.

Victory in DodgeBrawl requires one team to win a total of 4 rounds. Additionally, the game offers alternative modes such as Deathmatch, where players engage in a free-for-all battle, fighting for kills. The player with the most kills at the end wins the match. In this mode, players have unrestricted access to the entire map and can collect powerup orbs scattered on the ground.

DodgeBrawl will be a stylized, free-to-play game. Our primary revenue source will be through cosmetics, providing extensive customization options for your character, spawn animation, death animation, player card, and more. We also offer a season pass, which can be completed at any time even after the season ends, allowing for flexible progression.

This new game will be powered by Unreal Engine 5 and Epic Online Services (EOS). We opted for EOS over Steam due to its modern features and APIs. While we would have preferred our own solution under different circumstances, time constraints forced this decision.

Maintaining fair gameplay is also crucial, and we've implemented the well-established Easy Anti-Cheat to combat cheating in DodgeBrawl.

If you're interested in contributing to this exciting venture, please visit the applications channel in our Discord server to apply for a developer, artist, or designer position. Strong knowledge of UE5, C++, Blueprints, and the ability to work in a team environment using Git are required for the developer role. We’re also in need of all kinds of artists - animators, modelers, UI/UX designers and even vector artists.

Exciting developments are on the horizon. We plan to release footage and store pages later this year, with the possibility of early access by the end of the year. Stay up to date by following our Twitter account.
