A1. Top three recommendation for Raspberry Pi accessories
Unicorn hat
Pibrella
Explorer hat
A2. How do they enhance teaching and learning
Unicorn hat
Design, awe and wonder, coordinates, relatively simple Python API
Pibrella -
Simple way to power motors, very simple traffic lights, simple connectivity of switches, demonstration of input and output in one simple device
Explorer hat -
input and outputs, ability to build simple prototypes, touch buttons can easily be used as inputs
A3. Barriers to using as a whole class
Unicorn hat - cost, potential eye damage if on 100%, can take a long time to code individual pixels
Pibrella - they are becoming scarce and harder to find
Explorer hat - cost
All three require downloads so will need additional time with Internet connection to update.
A4. How do you know which ones to try?
Look for other projects and resources which people have used
Start with a project idea and then research the accessory
Buy a range of accessories rather than lots of one
A5. My favourite projects
