There are so many features I'd love to see vrchat natively add, however they seem ignored more than they are listened to. I actively cheer every time VRChat implements something good that mods have done for years (Physbones are brilliant!). It's a crying shame that VRC is actively against others improving their experience with the game though with the little quality improvement mods they use. I knew they would push for this the moment mod makers had to get rid of the unlimited avatar favorite mods, and I don't trust the devs any more with how they are framing modders as evil and breaking the game when most of the issues they listed are literally phishing scams or using urls to rip avatars. Hell, most of the mods people use are to protect their accounts or make it so that VRChat doesn't chug when using it.

To be completely fair, I've been saying cvr deserves more attention for over a year, and yeah, they're listening and engaging with the community..

But, they don't have nearly the manpower as vrc.. you thought vrc updates and new features took a while? Oof. There's like 2 dudes working on it. I've been seeing them discussing these new interactive updates for over a year, still nothing yet. The clunky menu? That took about a year to get half done (eventually the big menu is being retired, that's the old menu)

That said, if most of what you do is socialize with friends and don't really rely on udon type stuff, it's great. The prop system is fun. You can spawn cars anywhere or drive other people's cars if you want. Particle manipulation/colliders are nice. I love the YouTube search features that just don't exist in vrc.. the cvr sdk is, imo, much better for avatars than vrcsdk3. Just seems much better thought out.

Movie worlds aren't going to be allowed, they're very very particular about what they approve as a world. Anything ripped or a possible liability from an IP standpoint gets rejected. There is no "cvr labs", you'll want your world absolutely perfect and scrubbed of anything possibly ripped before you submit it for publication. My buddy who's friends with the lead developer was with him when he was approving/rejecting worlds.. a world got rejected because the trees looked familiar, so must've been ripped from somewhere. Another world got rejected because the bottom step on a staircase was too big to step on without jumping. They're very picky, which imo isn't a great indicator of a free wielding ecosystem.

I don't say these things to dissuade people from CVR. On the contrary, it's a great platform that deserves way more attention for what they've accomplished than it's gotten so far, but it's worth it to know the limitations. It may not ever be as good as vrc was in its prime, but then again, it does some things better.. but it's not vrc. Vrc was truly special and unique. I'll miss it.
