StartIsBack Trial reset
For a trial reset remove the entire key:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\CLSID\{dc8137d7-6d72-3550-a000-ae9c2affc92}
after that reboot. :)

after found an correct key .. i suggest to put the script to delete the key on batch file and put it on startup windows ..then you will get fresh trial everytime you started windows ,, didnt need to delete it manually anymore .. :P

@NettixCode Yes, you can create a basic task via Task Scheduler (taskschd.msc) that runs on User Logon and set it to run reg.exe with the arguments I provided in the scripts above.

For StartAllBack, trial reset now on this path:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CLSID{xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx}
looking for an empty folder {xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx} and delete it
maybe need reboot. :)

I have written a script. https://github.com/iandiv/StartAllBack-Cleanup

What does this do?

reset the trail days left

Thank You!! Script works perfectly once I figured out how to run it. Worked on Version 3.6.3 of StartAllBack.

@Eisys If you wanna automate this process via Task Scheduler, take a look at my one-liners which you can find here.

Note that the keys inside { } are not always the same.

@imsir0vic

@iandiv Yes, I am aware of this. If the keys change I'll make sure to update the gists. As of writing this, couple of versions have come and go, and the key has stayed the same, until they change it or make it harder to reset the trial.

@iandiv you STOLE (not forked) this code from my repo: https://github.com/Catzy44/startisback-cleanup/
and you made this script runnable by ANYONE without ANY IT knowledge
the point of me creating a mistake in the script was to be fair with the creators of StartIsBack
what u did is just rude, i have no words
you should go now, and create your own paid piece of software, i'm following your git from now on

im not mad because you stolen my code and not linked to my repo, im mad because you're letting script-kids do their thing!

@imsir0vic

@Catzy44 What difference would it make if he forked your repository? Is git clone on a local machine stealing?

because you're letting script-kids do their thing

Like any other script seen shared in this comment section, including mine.

@NettixCode I provided scripts both for Win10 and 11 versions. Try this

imsir0vic commented Jun 23, 2023

@NettixCode Sorry I misread your previous comment. Personally I don't think it's possible to disable Start Menu via Registry. There might be a way to do this using Process Hacker where you "Suspend" the StartMenuExperienceHost.exe process which should stop the Start Menu from working until you "Restore" execution.

oh im very sorry , i am just starting to explore the powershell scripts . i will take it down my code now

@imsir0vic

@iandiv There is no reason to take down your scripts. GitHub is a platform for collaboration, and if he @Catzy44 did not want his code "stolen", he shouldn't have made it public in the first place. Some people are butt hurt because they were not credited for their "original" work, even though many people have made the exact same scripts, if not better.

@oxou That's what I thought. My code targeted the "startAllBack" , while his code targeted the "startisback" , which doesn't work for "startAllBack".
I have set my code to private, and I am considering whether I should make it public again.

can you make your script public again? the other script does not work, I tried it many times. I also don't have any empty folder in CLSID section in registry editor. I have already deleted the one that was empty but it didn't fix the problem. Maybe your script will work. Pls help

@iandiv do whatever you want, it's your repo. Sorry for my previous post, I was angry because I have suddenly found my code in another repo. I have contacted with startisback dev and he doesn't give a fuck about trial reset scripts so I don't give a fuck about anyone being able to run this code. SO there is no point in preventing access to my script. Fair.

BTW, IMO being able to code is something special :)

@sinnlosername So, let's say you are the author of StartIsBack. You do it for a living. Do you think that anyone should have access to a script resetting the trial of your application? I would not like that. What I did was save time for people who are able to write a script like this anyway.

You are not the developer . So why are u butt-hurt ? Are you a moral police or what ? If you did not want then why did you make your script in the 1st place ? Kid wants credit for his work . lol

If you think it hurts your business, then go invest in a better anti piracy. But it's most likely not worth it, because people who look for cracks shouldn't be your target group anyways.

This registry key does not exist on Windows 8.1. Does anyone know how to perform the trial reset for version 1.7.6 on Win8.1?
