Note: GTA Online Discord is a community-based Discord server. It is not officially affiliated with Rockstar Games or any of their products.
Townhall is an opportunity to ask questions to the server staff in a channel where they will be answered in the interest of raising server transparency. Questions are around topics of the server, such as suggestions for the bot.
Moderator and associate applications open from time to time when we are in need of more moderators. Moderators are picked on a large number of factors, including attitude, cultural fit, and activity in the server. If you have joined with the pure aim of becoming a moderator you will likely not become one.
While there are no events planned for the server currently, that may change quickly if someone comes up with a good idea for a community event to do over Christmas. If you think of a great idea for a Christmas event, please send a direct message to the Modmail bot.
Maybe. Maybe not. Nothing has been discussed yet, but we recommend you sign up for the @Server Notifications role if you wish to be notified of things like giveaways.
It really depends on whether the staff want to, but if a staff member wants to stream the game they'll do it in one of out voice channels, you can find them below the text channels in the server.
No.
Yes, but I won't.
It's been considered, and some planning is in place, but it's dependent on the staff being able to host it, which currently is unlikely, but this may change in the future.
The same as being a non staff member, we're just people like you, but who happen to be able to ban scammers and aid the community in the server.
No, as mentioned previously we're not associated with Rockstar.
No, it doesn't get enough activity to warrant having it. Perhaps in the future we can have a thread in #media for pets, but thats dependent on staff wanting to deal with threads (which we don't, yet).
Nestle brand water. Or rain water. Or just drink the tap water for fuck's sake.
Contributing to the server, for example helping with bot development or providing feedback. This role comes with the @Associate role.
Sometimes I see low level associates in chat. Why do people who hardly chat in public or engage with the community provide input on how the server should be?
It's useful to have outsider views of the server so that we can see what needs to be improved from their perspective. Some associates are also bot developers for the server, and thus are not particularly active since activity is not the reason they have the role.
I (vcokltfre) am looking into this, but it's not a priority at the moment. It looks to be possible given the site 'GTABase' has these stats, but it would take some effort to implement which is best spent elsewhere right now. I'll probably revisit this in the future.
Will there be any christmas themed bots that will host some sort of event kinda like "Trick'cord Treat" bot?
Possible, if I have time to make it I will, but there's a decent chance I just won't have the time to do so.
Junior mods are mode which have newly become mods. They're not yet very experienced with moderating the server and are on a sort of probation period where they can be demoted if they don't fit the position. After a while in the server they're ready to be promoted to regular mods, who are trusted and require a review to be demoted, except in cases of gross misconduct. Senior mods have the ability to do things like rename and move channels, assign roles manually, etc. and are generally more involved with administrating the server. Admins have all permissions, and are ultimately responsible for administrating the server.
We get nitro gifts sometimes :)
No, we don't want to exclude people from participating because of their levels. That channel, along with community, are the places people usually talk, thus making a level requirement makes it hard for them to get the required level.
Maybe, it's been considered and is in a queue of things to try when development time is available.
@Raptor - a selfhosted instance of Dragory's Zeppelin bot for moderation. @Lester - a custom bot written for the server specifically. @Phisherman - a custom bot made to autoban phishing scammers.
There are more, but these are the most important ones currently.
This is very sad, but is unrelated to the server.
Scammers are banned from the server, thus we cannot give them a role.
If you forgot your question, Disco, then you have no need to say this.
I like popsicles...
