My name is Vince Allen.

I grew up in Atlanta, GA. As an only child to parents who worked full time, I had a lot of time to myself. I had friends and have early memories of playing outside between houses in the suburbs until the sun went down. But when it did go down, I was fortunate to have some space of my own to focus and a healthy amount of uninterrupted time. Once I was in middle school, I gravitated towards three things, the early Internet, playing drums and running. Over time, these interests all competed with each other and branched off but were the start of the paths leading me through adulthood.

I graduated from Georgia State University. After college I tried making it work living in Atlanta. But eventually I moved to New York City in 1999 and lived in the Soho neighborhood in Manhattan for eight years.

I started working at Spotify in 2012 and celebrated my 10th year at the company in May 2022. I'm currently a Senior Engineering Manager working with teams building promotional products on the Spotify for Artists platform for artists and artist teams.

I moved to Brooklyn, NY in 2007 and have lived in a few different neighborhoods around Prospect Park.

One of my favorite hack projects was a project focused on the music of Johnny Cash. I listened to every song Johnny Cash released in order of release date. I then analyzed the audio characteristics of the songs and identified long term trends in his sound over his entire career.

Another favorite project rendered natural simulations in a web browser using only CSS drop shadows.

I follow a vegan diet and have learned to cook several dinners and desserts. My favorite dinner to make is farro with blistered tomatoes, pesto and spinach.
