Thank you, this helped.
This snippet doesn't deal with pagination. I found that for large number of events (~15000) it only returns (~1500).

ValueError: dictionary update sequence element #0 has length 1; 2 is required
I added a few print statements, turns out I was getting an authorisation error.

My auth token did not have the correct scope.
