As a Muslim who is observing what the space of "open source, programmable, money" is currently offering, it is hard to see its immediate importance or even difference in value from normal money systems.
That is probably because there is currently little difference when it comes to, specifically and non-technologically, the mentality and capitalistic motivations and approaches in open money that merely look for materialistic profit in anything, everything, on any level, and at nearly any cost.
If you had instead asked me about the underlying technology, I would say only a fool would dismiss it.
